My Blog

I thought that I would share how I decided to design my blog with you. First off, my favorite flower is the rose. What could be better than to have wallpaper with tiny roses to surround you while reading or writing and to listen to the song 'The Rose'. I imagine myself in a beautiful English rose garden with the most delightful fragants flowing all around me.

The colors selected connect our family like a beautiful climbing rose bush. My Dad, Ken, myself, my children and grandchildren all have birthdays within months that have birthstones that are shades of red and green. There is Kevin, Sam and myself with the deep red shade of garnet, Gregg and Levi with the brilliant red of Ruby and Shelley with a shimmering pastel shade of pink tourmaline. My Mom is the stamen that is a warm sunflower shade of citrine. All of these complete our beautiful rose flower. My Dad, Ken and Bethany have the intense brilliant green of emerald and Sarah, with the vibrant green shade of peridot, make up the stems and leaves to support our beautiful rose flowers.

The song 'The Rose' has beautiful lyrics and its says to me that no matter what happens in your life there is love to give and to have - just reach out for it and embrace it. We have so much love in our family and it shows at all time.

The Rose

Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower, and You its only seed.
It's the heart, afraid of breaking, that never learns to dance.

It's the dream, afraid of waking, that never takes a chance.
It's the one who won't be taken, who cannot seem to give.
And the soul, afraid of dyin', that never learns to live.
When the night has been too lonely,

and the road has been too long,
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong,
Just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows,
Lies the seed, that with the sun's love, in the spring becomes
The Rose.

Five Weird Things about Me!

1. When washing dishes, I always put the silverware on the
bottom, plates next and glasses on top - leaving little room
to actually wash the dishes.

2. I constantly have my fingernails in my mouth - nasty habit.

3. I could live on hamburgers alone.

4. I hate to dust and love to make designs in my dusty furniture
before cleaning.

5. I love to be with my Aunts and Uncles to listen to all their
wonderful stories of the past - not very weird, but not very
common either.

There you go Sarah!

It was Meant to Be!

All my life there has been a wonderful, loveable companion for everyone to share. Growing up, our family had Penny - a little black and white terrier. Once married and settled in Ohio, Ken and I had several wonderful pets including our little Valentine and Pojo. Since Ken (Grandpa) went to heaven, I have been thinking alot about having someone special to share my life.
With all my travels over the past few months, it seems that everywhere I go there are those wonderful, loveable companions to share your love and then I come home all by myself.

No more! I want to introduce the newest angel of Grandma's flock. His name is Ziggy. He is one year old, full of vim and vigor, loves to give kisses, likes to go in the car, go for walks and stays by my side at all times.

Shelley and Robin have been very intrumental in making this happen. They have been searching to find just the right angel for me and in the process found their new angel. Please meet Lulu.
Jack and Tess now have a new sister to spend time with. Lulu has fallen in love with Jack and Tess.
We are now a family of one Grandma/Mom, one son, three daughters, four grandchildren and six granddogs. What a wonderful, loving family!
